Dwarkadhish Temple, located in the heart of Mathura, is one of the most prominent and revered temples dedicated to Lord Krishna, worshipped here as Dwarkadhish or the “King of Dwarka.” Built in 1814 by Seth Gokul Das Parikh, a treasurer of the Gwalior royal family, the temple is known for its stunning Rajasthani architecture, featuring intricate carvings, arched gateways, and beautifully painted ceilings.
While Vrindavan is associated with Krishna's youth, Mathura holds importance as Krishna's birthplace, and the Dwarkadhish Temple represents his royal aspect as the ruler of Dwarka. The temple is famous for its vibrant festivals, especially during Janmashtami and the Hindola festival when the deity is placed on a beautifully decorated swing.
